Personal Boundaries: Yes or No?!
9 January 2024My dear reader,
In my first celestial ‘GREAT BIOs’ writing, I will talk about a woman who changed the world of fashion forever – the legendary and immortal Star Coco Chanel.
Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel was born on August 19, 1883. In numerology, 19 symbolizes the Sun, which charmingly shines on others, but excessive effort and workaholism can consume itself from within. The month of her birth symbolizes strength and justice. She knew that most of her relatives only needed money from her, and the successful couturier provided it to them without a sound, thus avoiding insincere flattery. The year of her birth implies a dreadful Judgment, to which she succumbed more than once due to her association with the Nazis.
It is believed that her friendship with Churchill helped her whitewash her biography and the fact of her connection with Germany during World War II.
As for the karmic task of the fashion designer, according to the “Archetypal Portrait of Personality” methodology, it lies with the Hierophant, which equates to tradition and marriage.
Coco Chanel never fulfilled this task, as none of her exciting romantic relationships ended in marriage.
Chanel was born in the town of Saumur in Western France. She was the second child of five. The position of her Moon from birth in the third house implies emotional relationships with siblings and close surroundings. The family was very poor. The mother took on any work, while the father abused alcohol. When Gabrielle was 12 years old, her mother died, and her father ran away, leaving the children in an orphanage. Chanel often felt embarrassed about her past, and her imagination invented additional attractive biographical facts. This is evidenced by the astrological aspect – Mercury in conjunction with Proserpina and Uranus, which gives systematic, clear thinking, but capable of producing unconventional ideas and vivid imagination. Her new style changed the course of fashion at that time.
It was in the shelter that Gabrielle mastered the skills of sewing and made a firm decision to become rich and famous.
At the age of 18, she began working as a sales assistant in a fashion store, and in her free time, she spent time in cabarets, where she sang and danced. It was there that she was given the nickname Coco for her famous song “Ko Ko Ri Ko.”
Sun and Venus in Leo – she sang on stage at the beginning of her career, she loved attention, entertainment, and a luxurious life that fate gave her. Her partners were also always from the upper class.
One day, a wealthy retired cavalry officer, Etienne Balsan, noticed her in a cabaret and offered her to move in with him to his estate. The girl agreed, but in the future, her desire to become a fashion designer would amuse him, as the competition in Paris was high, and Coco had no experience in this field. Soon she began a romance with an industrialist from England, Arthur Capel, nicknamed “Boy” among friends. The most passionate love story of Mademoiselle Chanel. He helped her open a hat shop in Paris, which drastically changed her life. Within a year, the small boutique moved to the center of the capital on the territory of the famous Ritz hotel.
The aspect of Mars in Gemini shows that Gabrielle was easygoing, sociable, active, and communicative. Sales were growing rapidly. Her hats were worn by the greatest fashionistas of the capital and the wives of successful businessmen. Her biography shows that she could make deals with anyone.
However, success only prompted the couturier to make new decisions. Many things in the fashion of that time did not suit her. She freed women’s hands from carrying handbags, hanging them on chains. She replaced lush skirts and frills with strict, clear lines. She introduced the fashion for short women’s haircuts. She gave women the opportunity to wear trousers, the convenience of which she realized in the estate while engaging in equestrian sports. Coco was a great woman and learned a lot from her lovers. Sailor shirts, low-heeled shoes – these are all innovations of the great Coco Chanel.
The aspect of Jupiter in Cancer in sextile with Neptune and Uranus speaks precisely of her innovation, boldness, ability to keep up with the times, but to go beyond conventional boundaries. It was wealthy women who were her main clients and attendees at her shows. Thanks to her unconventional thinking, ideas, and views, she gained financial stability and growth through creativity in the second half of her career.
In 1919, Arthur Capel died in a car accident, and Coco Chanel dressed in black. All her fans did the same. One publication put Chanel’s black dress on par with the Ford automobile. This color remains a symbol of a true Frenchwoman to this day. Not only love but also trauma shaped the great Mademoiselle.
Her biography is an example of talent to risk and to extract a plus from the most severe defeat. Collaboration with perfumer Ernest Beaux gave her a new direction in perfumery. Chanel chose bottle number 5, and named her legendary perfume – a symbol of classic and elegance to this day.
World War II destroyed her business, and her nephew was taken prisoner. She turned to Baron Hans Gunter von Dincklage for help. Subsequently, the 56-year-old Chanel became the chosen one of the aforementioned. According to some reports, Chanel was officially listed in German intelligence. Gabrielle Chanel was arrested. In 1944, at the behest of Churchill, she was released. He was a frequent guest at her villa on the French Riviera. The condition for her freedom was to leave France, and she moved to Switzerland.
At the age of 71, Coco Chanel returned to the world of fashion. Her audacity always spoke of one thing: “It’s never too late!”
On January 10, 1971, Coco Chanel died of a heart attack at the age of 87 in a luxury suite at the Ritz hotel across the street from the luxurious Chanel fashion house.
